Empowering Asians with Disabilities to Lead (EADL) Coordinator
 

Women’s Initiative for Self Empowerment (WISE), a multicultural non-profit organization working across cultures in the Asian, African and Latino communities to empower immigrant women and girls to succeed, is seeking a Disability Coordinator to coordinate workshops and activities for parents with disabilities/ and or parents with children with disabilities.

Position Description:

The EADL Coordinator will develop, implement and oversee the EADL program. Successful candidates will be highly professional, detail oriented, organized, and have the ability to manage multiple tasks, speak Hmong or another Southeast Asian language and possess a genuine interest in disability, immigrant and refugee women and girls’ issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, evaluate, and document programs effectiveness and monitoring programs progress
  • Recruit participants for the program
  • Coordinate programs’ activities and training logistics
  • Facilitate meetings, workshops, and trainings with collaborating partners
  • Prepare monthly narrative reports on all activities as well as periodic program evaluation reports and recommendations
  • Attend community meetings and promote innovative community partnerships that benefit Asian with disabilities
  • Select speakers and/or interpreters for conducting trainings and workshops
  • Develop promotional and outreach materials and publications
  • Work with the executive director and funders in meeting progress outcomes
  • Assist the executive director as needed

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Have a bachelor degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Education, Therapeutic Recreation, Special Education, Women’s Studies, public policy or public administration and/ or related work experience in social services
  • Be innovative and self-motivated
  • Have previous experience working with a community-based organization, with volunteers and with people from various ethnic backgrounds
  • Understanding of the inner workings of a nonprofit community-based organization
  • Have experience working with people with disabilities or familiarity with immigrant and refugee issues preferred
  • Have excellent verbal communication skills in Hmong
  • Previous experience with project management
  • Have strong listening and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Have the ability to juggle multiple tasks, establish priorities, meet deadlines and follow instructions
  • Have efficient time management skills
  • Have proficient presentation skills
  • Have strong phone and customer service skills
  • Computer skills essential - Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Windows 98, 2000 or XP
  • Have own transportation for local travel within the Metropolitan area
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

Hours:

40 hrs per week with flexible hours in the evening and/or weekend.

Compensation:

$22,000.00 to $25,000.00(depending on qualifications) with benefits.
